JAKARTA - Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Executive Vice President Boediono meet on Friday (22/07/2011) morning, to discuss the Internet giant's plans to expand its business in Indonesia.
Schmidt was surprised when some of the media visited the Vice Presidential Palace on the number Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. Come by taxi, Schmidt turned out to convey the Mountain View-based company plans to develop its business in Indonesia.
"Indonesia has a lot of aggressive plans to adopt the use of the Internet more broadly. Indonesia experienced a remarkable progress of broadband and mobile penetration is very high," Schmidt explained when describing the purpose of his visit to the Vice Presidential Palace.
"Google is used by many of Indonesia's population, so it would be very nice if we could do our business here," he added.
Asked when the expansion plan is realized, Schmidt reveals that it remains to be further discussed with the Indonesian government. But he stated that the vice president responded positively to Google's plans in Indonesia.
"I think the Indonesian government will be very pleased with Google's presence in this country. They see Google as a positive investment, because we will recruit people and has business operations here," he concluded.
